THERE’S A NEW SHOP ON THE BLOCK
Quambatook has opened the doors to a fresh new business.
55-57 Guthrie Street is now the home to Quambatook District Share Shop Inc. (QDSSinc).
A previously vacant building, where 40 years ago Ellis’ Hardware and Hogan’s Grocery store operated, is now home to a fantastic new community retail space. A fabulous place for local and district residents to showcase their wares, talents, skills, ideas and crafts.
Quambatook District Share Shop Inc. is a Not For Profit Incorporated Association and was established through a vision to bring people out of their sheds, kitchens and craft rooms, empowering them with an opportunity to display and sell their wares. It’s also a space where people are welcome to drop in, browse and socialise - giving them a great sense of community. And there’s plenty of light hearted fun to be had, as you can see in the
photos.
There are currently 10 businesses selling their goods and chattels in the shop space that range from local produce, homemade and handmade items to vintage and new home-wares. We encourage local businesses and other people to get involved and have a go as we continue to grow and expand. Starting up by yourself might seem way too daunting but here you can give it a shot with the support of like-minded people to help you.
With a great team behind it, the Share Shop offers economic growth to the town and
community and is fast becoming a tourist attraction.
Everyone is welcome to drop in anytime during our permanent opening hours of
Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10.00am – 3.00pm.
